What is the Household Benefits Package?

The Household Benefits Package is a package of allowances per household which help you with the costs of running your household. The total package is worth €580.

You must be a full-time resident in the Republic of Ireland to receive this allowance and only one member of a household can qualify for Household Benefits. There are two allowances: the Electricity or Gas Allowance and the Free Television Licence.

Electricity or Gas Allowance: Worth €420: Electricity Allowance of €35 monthly (€1.15 per day) or Natural Gas Allowance of €35 monthly (€1.15 per day)

Free Television License: Worth €160: Free Television License

Who is eligible?

You may get Household Benefits if:

  1. You are aged over 70
  2. You are aged between 66 and 70 and are getting a state pension
  3. You are aged between 66 and 70 and are not getting a state pension but satisfy a means test
